Time to get those Home Buyer Goggles back on. We have talked about, dressing up your exterior, de-personalizing and organizing. Now let’s touch on Painting. Everyone has different taste in paint. Even your kids right? We’ve seen blue rooms, purple, pink, polka dots, chevron pattern.. red. We’ve seen it all and we’re here to give your our professional opinion. Personalized paint is a turn off to buyers when you get ready to sell your house. The more neutral the better. Always remember. Buyers want to picture themselves living in your home. That can be hard to do if the house is painted in a color they may not like.  Luckily paint isn’t terribly expensive and it can give you a huge return on your investment. Here are a few tips when it comes to painting.


  • Choose a light beige, not white. Accent the baseboards, ceiling & fireplace with white.
  • Be patient and do it yourself. For what you would pay a professional for one room, you could do the whole house yourself. ?
  • Paint the exterior and interior Door of the front door. Stats show that Painting your door a Navy Blue could add as much as $1,514 to the sales price of your home.    
  • Exterior Paint. Greige is the color to shoot for! What the heck is grease? This is a combo of Grey & beige. According to stats, this color will increase your sales price by a few thousand dollars.

And last but not least, here are the colors to avoid. White, Yellow and red! So what are your thoughts?
